We will be attending workshops and presentations at the NEW Wilmington Convention Center right on the river front! There will be over 100 workshops and presentations for you to choose from, as well as galleries, tours, and more. Registration will be live on www.ncaea.org soon!

Download the letter to administration encouraging their support of your attendance at this year’s conference! And, you can start planning for expenses and asking for support from your principal, supervisors, and superintendent. You may even search for a grant to help you.

A breakdown of the cost is as follows:

·  NCAEA/NAEA Membership: $90

·  Conference Registration: $150

·  Conference Hotel: $139 plus 13% tax per night (find roommates to reduce this by half!)

·  Parking at Hotel: $11 per day (include this amount in your travel with mileage/gas.)

·  Food: State per diem is $37.90 per day (except Saturday, your evening meal is provided at the Banquet at no additional cost)

·  Add all this together including a roommate and the total is: $587.11 plus you will need to add in your gas mileage. Divide the total and start saving today!

If you need to join or renew, please go to www.arteducators.org and sign up before registering. This is the easiest way to renew your membership or join for the first time. If it is necessary for you to include your membership in registration, we have a place for that on this site. PLEASE renew or join on www.arteducators.org if at all possible.  THANK YOU for your help with this.

It is a good idea to do this before continuing with your registration, and leave the window up so that you can refer back and forth as necessary.

Things to know before registering:

• You must be a member of NCAEA/NAEA to attend the conference.

• The conference fee is NOT your membership fee to NCAEA/NAEA  A conference registration fee is for the general operations of the conference only.

• You may join or renew your membership on this registration site by going to www.arteducators.org 

• When you join you will receive a confirmation email with your new ID number.  

• All current members should use your NCAEA/NAEA ID number when registering. Membership must be current through November 30th, 2017.

Deadlines:

Early Registration Fees: Active- $150, Pre Service- $75, Retired- $105, Admin- $150)

Early Conference Registration Fee ends Oct. 11th. Each increases by $25.00(Active- $175.00, Pre Service- $100.00, Retired- $130.00, Admin- 175.00)

Merchandise orders close on Oct. 1st- No Refunds- 

No refunds on Workshops or Registration after Oct. 1st.

Onsite registration will open at the Wilmington Convention Center on Thursday, Oct. 26th from 6pm-8pm. (You will NOT get the banquet meal if you choose to wait and register at the conference.)

Members' Exhibit: Please fill out the form and send your jpeg pic of your artwork for our members show. The deadline for entry is Oct. 1st.  Forms can be found on www.ncaea.org on the conference page.

PRE-CONFERENCE ALL DAY WORKSHOP!!! Thursday. Oct. 26th from 9 am-4:00 pm.

Assessment is not a four letter word

Now, with ASW gone, how will you be evaluated?  NC Teacher Evaluation rubric has three objectives that deal specifically with assessment and data: Ia; IV h; and V a.  Participate in an interactive workshop about authentic, embedded formative assessment techniques for visual arts classes.  Examine different proven ways to collect data regarding K-12 grade students.  Leave with resources in hand regarding Assessing Learning with Art Criticism (Critical Response); Formative Feedback for Growth; Proven Methods for Collecting Data; Bettering Our Practice; Crafting Tools to Measure Student Growth and Educating Students, Teachers, and Others About Learning in the Arts.  Resources and methods may be used with or without technology.

CONFERENCE:

Thursday Evening: Registration Desk is open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  After picking up your name badge, please drop off Scholarship Silent Auction donations, Member's Art Exhibit pieces, NC General Assembly Art EntriesNational Art Honor Society Entries, National Junior Art Honor Society Entries, used art book donations and donated supplies for inclusion in the tub raffles at the registration table.

Enjoy the President's Reception and visit the Commercial Exhibitor's Hall for a Meet and Greet and some fun activities from 6-8 pm.  Talk to vendors and get your Vendor Bingo card stamped to win door prizes. Also, meet our Museum Educator's at our Museum Expo right inside the Vendor Hall.

Friday: Registration Desk open from 8 am - 5 pm.  The Commercial Exhibit Hall opens at 8 am. Pre-Paid registered workshops and free presentations will begin at 8:30 am and continue throughout the day. A few workshops will be offsite. Transportation is not provided to offsite workshops. These workshops are clearly noted on the registration. Lunch is on your own from 11:15 am - 1:15 pm. We have provided restaurant listings and maps in your conference bag. View the Members' Exhibit & Student Art Exhibits at your leisure.  Vendor door prizes will be announced throughout the day. Buy raffle tickets to win the big tub of donated art supplies and surprises!  We will be giving door prize tickets to attendees at each event. These door prizes will be given away Sunday morning at the Awards Breakfast. The more tickets you collect, the better your chances to win prizes!!

SOMETHING NEW!!  We will be having a General Session from 4:15pm-5:30pm Friday. It is a required session for ALL, and we will be seated by Regions! We will have a guest panel from an Arts Grant Program that launched an all year arts integration program at one of our state's high schools in partnership with one of our museums! You don't want to miss this!! We had a huge response asking for a way to meet up with Regional members on Friday. SO, after this session, we will be going to the galleries with our Regional Groups being led by our Region Coordinators!!

Friday Night, 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm. -Members Exhibit & Reception and Our Downtown Arts District Gallery Tag. Each person that submits social media tags will be put into a drawing for the huge basket full of art supplies from our vendors!  This is the Friday night gallery hop so all the galleries in the arts district are open until 9 pm. Your Region Coordinator will be guiding your group through the galleries!!


Saturday:  The registration table will be open from 8 am- Noon. The Commercial Exhibit Hall and light breakfast begin at 8 am. Pre-Paid registered workshops and free presentations will begin at 8:30 am and continue throughout the day. Lunch is on your own from 11:15 am - 1:15 pm. We have provided restaurant listings and maps in your conference bag. You may wish to return to the Commercial Exhibit Hall "one final time". Vendors close and break down the Hall at 3 pm.


SOMETHING NEW.....The Silent Auction will be for two schools in Eastern NC who were heavily damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Bring your silent auction donation and be ready to make the highest bids! All contributions will be split between these two elementary schools' visual art classrooms!

Saturday Night Banquet: "STEAM Punk Time Travel Party!!"  We celebrate Art Education in NC! Your attire can be creative..anything goes. Just wait and see what happens!  Lots of fun and art-making planned, Extras on Saturday night include the Scholarship Silent Auction at the banquet, and more vendor door prizes and the Art Supply Raffle Tub.

Sunday morning: All sessions/meetings today are REQUIRED. Division Meetings- 8:00-8:50 am. Awards Breakfast & General Meeting- 9:00-11:00 am. Region Meetings11:10am-12:00 pm. 

• Conference ends at 12 noon.
